FRANZ LISZT: SONATE IN B MINOR

Pietro Massa plays Franz Liszt

Liszt Piano Sonata in B minor is one of the most important of the most technically demanding piano works of the Romantic as well as a highlight in the oeuvre of the composer.

It is dedicated to Robert Schumann and was composed 1849-1853. The first performance (with Hans von Bülow at the piano) took place on 22 January 1857 in Berlin. The dedication to Schumann is a counter tribute, because in 1836 this dedicated his C major Fantasy to Liszt .

In this video recording Pietro Massa plays on his own Steinway Grand Piano served by his technician Thomas Hübsch.
